Generally the years bertween the discovery of the steam machine to today are grupped in five epocs, useful to classify a rolling stock or a building.
epoc 0: before 1885. First steps of railroads and its buildings.
epoc I: from 1885 to 1920. Building of great railroads. Evolution of the steam machine.
epoc II: from 1920 to 1945. Building of great national railroads.
epoc III: from 1945 to 1970. Rebuilding after 2nd WW, sunset of the steam towards the electic and diesel engines
epoc IV: from 1970 to 1990. Unification of rolling stocks numbering (UIC)
epoc V: from 1990 to today. Development of high speed railroads.
